MacBook Pro 13 Review - A Small Notebook With Big Features

Our MacBook Pro 13 review tells us that the Apple's new notebook, MacBook Pro 13, comes with Intel Core i5 & i7 processors. Using the new Intel's Sandy Bridge single-chip processors, Apple is claiming that the speed has almost doubled as compared to the last year's model. This has been possible due to the Hyper-Threading & Turbo Boost technologies used in these processors. What makes the MacBook Pro 13 works is while it has retained the price of last year's model, the CPU now offers much higher performance & the battery life has also significantly improved. With almost 7 hours, the battery life has improved by an hour when compared the last release.

Like all Apple's machines, this notebook also looks beautiful with it's aluminum unibody enclosure and the 13 inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display. The screen is also stunning; it has an excellent viewing angle & the colors are sharp and clear. You can watch HD videos on this laptop; they look smooth, crisp & natural. Text is also very easily readable. The desktop icons stand out but also give an overall nice effect to the Graphic User Interface (GUI).

Webcam streaming is in HD and also works with FaceTime application. The new FaceTime HD camera allows the users to make 720p video calls to another MacBook user or a lower resolution call to iPhone 4 or iPod Touch users.

However, the screen resolution has not improved in this 2011 release and graphic performance still leave a lot to be desired. While the 2010 MacBook had an integrated Nvidia graphics, the 2011 release uses the Intel's HD Graphics 3000 card. The loss may be insignificant for some users, but it surely disappoints the majority.

The much-hyped feature on this sleek machine is the integration of a high-speed data/video port, Thunderbolt. This technology, being developed by Intel, promises to be the sole successor to USB, FireWire and DisplayPort. It is claimed that it will be capable of transferring data at high rates of 10 Gbps. Though there are no Thunderbolt peripherals available now, the port will sure come in handy once the technology catches on.

The Backlit keyboard with well-spaced keys is very comfortable & easy to use. The Glass Clickpad has no competition from any other vendors and is a very satisfying experience. Apple's environment-friendly policy promises that the device is free from Mercury, Arsenic, BFR and PVC. The aluminum and glass enclosures are also supposed to be recyclable & the Ethernet connection is also Energy Efficient.

We end our MacBook Pro 13 review with the conclusion that due to its technology overhaul, this notebook will continue to be Apple's best-selling laptop in the future.
